Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Makes NFL Debut After Dillon Gabriel Suffers Concussion
CLEVELAND — Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his NFL debut in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. He entered the game with 12:43 left in the third quarter after the Browns announced that Dillon Gabriel had a concussion evaluation. The team later ruled Gabriel out.
Sanders opened his first drive with a 5-yard pass to Cedric Tillman. At that moment, Cleveland led 16–10. He completed both of his throws for 12 yards. However, he also lost a fumble after Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton sacked him for an 11-yard loss.
The Ravens fought back and beat the Browns 23–16.
Cleveland drafted Sanders in the fifth round. He moved into the backup role earlier this season after the Browns traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 7.
